Steven James Stewart:
I was born in upstate N.Y. My influence to play drums was Buddy Rich.
I
was about 6 or 7 and my parents were watching TV one night. I do remember what
the show was,
it was a Glen Miller Christmas special but Buddy
did a 10 min. drum solo and I watched the whole thing. It was the
coolest.
So when I was old enough to join drums in school, I did.
Singing influence:
This was a long time ago also. I'm going to give away my age here.
When FM radio first came
out in my town we only had one station, they played whole albums with
few commercials. The
music that was playing was Aerosmith's 1st. album. I fell deep
into music
and have loved it ever
since. It is my 1st. love. I was in 4th grade when I joined chorus, and
have been singing ever since.
Speaking of Aerosmith
When I came to Florida, I got a job with a local cable co. One of my
customers were Steven Tyler's
Parents. Vic and Sue. His
mom showed me this huge medallion. that said AEROSMITH. It must have
weighed 2 lbs.
She carried it
everywhere. Oh by the way he gets his lips from his father. They are
very nice and down to earth people.
When they would see
me in the community, she always would make a point to stop and say
hello. So I bet you can
guess my favorite band.

Favorite Albums: Sabatage (Black Sabbath);

Diamonds & Debris (Cry of Love).
Background:
I started playing at 11 years
old. I grew really fascinated with
the sound of Black Sabbath and grew up trying to copy it. My brother,
Joe, turned me on to UFO and I started listening to Michael Shenker, who
is very under-rated. That is what I like about them because they don’t
wear it out on the radio. When I first heard Perfect Stranger (Deep
Purple), I was hooked and realized that I wanted to play guitar for a
living someday. That’s my story and I’m still a poor, starving
musician. E-mail me at
